Here Come the Double Deckers – Red London Bus

Of course many will know Double Decker as the Cadbury chocolate bar. The Double Decker name does originate from the Double-Decker Bus and unsurprisingly a Red Double Decker London Bus was used in its adverts.

For those born in the 60’s you’ll no doubt remember the TV series Here Come the Double Deckers, for those who haven’t heard of it … well it may just be this programme that helped embed the love affair we have with the iconic Red London Bus and our desire to use them for Wedding Transport and School Prom Transport.

The Double Deckers TV series ran from 1970 to 1971 and its episodes followed the adventures of seven children who used an old red double-decker London bus as their den. The Double Deckers den was a 1962 Leyland Routemaster Red Double-Decker Bus. The 1960’s London Routemaster Bus continues to be the most loved London bus and for that reason is recognised throughout the world.

If you’re still unsure of the impact of this Double Decker London Bus then look no further than the BBC One Show Spooks. Leader of the Double-Decker gang was Scooper played by Peter Firth who is more commonly associated with his role of Harry Pearce in the BBC One Show Spooks.
